Stadium

Overview

Stadiums and sports arenas come in different shapes and sizes. Huge venues like Olympic stadiums can seat thousands of spectators and host a large number of different events. Other venues are specially made to host particular events, such as swimming or cycling races. There are also even smaller sports venues such as squash courts and bowling alleys.

What sporting venues do you have in your local area? What kinds of activities do you participate in? Are there any you haven’t tried but would like to?

It’s important to get involved in sporting activities as it helps your heart to work more efficiently! Your heart is a muscle and works hard to pump blood around your body. Exercise keeps it fit and healthy. When you exercise, your breathing gets faster to allow more oxygen into your body. If you exercise regularly, your lungs get stronger too.

A healthy diet will ensure that your body gets all the nutrients it needs. Remember to drink plenty of water too. You need to drink between one and two litres of water a day – that’s between four and eight glasses.

It’s easy to start exercising if you have never tried before. You could start cycling or playing football in your local park. Or contact your local sports centre and see what’s on offer!
